LDM for Skin Recovery / Lifting Treatments
LDM PRE & POST CARE
Preoperative Cautions
- Arrive with clean skin where possible; avoid heavy makeup, thick creams, or sunscreen immediately before treatment.
- Do not treat areas with open wounds, active infections, cold sores, severe acne flare-ups, or significant irritation/sunburn.
- Tell your practitioner if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have significant medical conditions, or are taking prescription medications that may affect healing or skin sensitivity.
- Inform your practitioner if you have any implanted medical devices or metal implants, or if you have had recent cosmetic procedures on the treatment area (e.g., injectables, laser, chemical peel, microneedling).
- If your skin is easily irritated, avoid strong active skincare (retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, scrubs) for 24–48 hours before treatment.
- Stay well-hydrated and avoid alcohol the day before if you are prone to flushing or sensitivity.
Postoperative Cautions & Care
Day of Treatment
- Mild redness, warmth, or a “tight” feeling can occur and usually settles quickly.
- Use gentle skincare only: mild cleanser + moisturiser. Avoid hot water and rubbing the skin.
- Makeup may be applied the same day if your skin feels comfortable, unless your practitioner advises otherwise.
Next 24–48 Hours
- Avoid excessive heat exposure (sauna, hot baths, hot yoga) and very intense workouts if you experience flushing.
- If the skin feels sensitive, pause retinoids, exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA), and physical scrubs for 24–48 hours.
- Apply SPF 50+ daily and minimise direct sun exposure.
Within 1 Week
- Maintain good hydration and a consistent gentle skincare routine to support skin comfort.
- Continue strict sun protection, especially if treating pigment-prone or sensitive skin.
Avoid
- Harsh rubbing, aggressive exfoliation, or deep facial massage on the treated area for 24 hours.
- Introducing multiple new skincare products at once if your skin is reactive.
When to Contact the Clinic
- Persistent redness, swelling, or discomfort that worsens or lasts longer than 48 hours.
- Blistering, increasing pain, rash/hives, or any unusual reaction that concerns you.
- If you feel unwell or develop severe symptoms, seek urgent medical attention.
Note: If LDM is performed as an add-on to support recovery after another procedure, please follow the aftercare instructions of the primary treatment (the stricter guidance always applies).
Common Adverse Reactions
- Temporary redness, warmth, mild swelling, or a “tight” sensation.
- Occasional tingling or mild tenderness that typically resolves within hours to 1–2 days.
- Rarely, mild headache or light bruising may occur depending on individual sensitivity.
